Expressing delight over the large voter turnout in the fourth phase of polling for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said that the people are coming out to vote in good numbers because they trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"The people are coming to vote in big numbers, it is a victory for democracy. People are coming out to vote in big numbers because they trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir have proved that are going to answer bullets with ballot," he added.

The polling, which began at 8 a.m. on a dull note due to chilly weather conditions and fog in the morning, has started picking up in 16 assembly segments spread over three districts of Srinagar, Anantnag and Shopian in the fourth phase of five-phased elections.

In this phase, the polling is being held in 18 assembly segments.

The concerned authorities have made unprecedented security arrangements for free, fair and peaceful polling in these constituencies.

According to reports, 37.46% polling has been recorded till 2 pm.
