With permutations and combinations still being worked out, the Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra on Friday formally called the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the BJP for discussions on government formation in the state.

“Letters have been written to both PDP and BJP separately inviting them for discussions with the honourable governor on the issue of government formation. No specific date has been given for discussions. Right now, we do not know who is supporting whom,” said a senior officer of the Jammu and Kashmir government.

PDP confirmed the receiving of the letter saying they have been called for discussions at their convienience. “We have received the letter just now. It is not an invitation letter. It is a letter for discussions,” said Naeem Akthar, PDP spokesman.

Jammu and Kashmir assembly has six-year term which ends on January 19. Though Omar Abdullah government had taken oath of office on January 5 2009, the assembly was constituted on January 21 2009.
