Pampore: Lashkar terrorists attack bus carrying CRPF personnel; 8 jawans martyred

In a ghastly terrorist attack in Pampore  of Jammu and Kashmir, eight CRPF jawans have lost their lives, while more than 20 others have been injured. 

Earlier in the day, when jawans were returning from firing range pratice their convoy was attacked by terrorists. Security personnel on the bus retaliated fiercely to the attack and gunned down two terrorists. According to IG, CRPF the two terrorists are from Lashkar and belong to Pakistan. They were in a suicide mission according to reports. 

Rajesh Yadav, CRPF commandant, informed, "Two terrorists killed, we've lost five jawans and 20 injured. The injured jawans have been admitted to hospital." Condition of four CRPF jawans are said to be critical. Later reports confirmed that three more jawans have passed away bringing the death toll to 8. 

The incident took place at Frestbal in Pampore, 14 km from Srinagar , when the terrorists fired at a bus carrying CRPF personnel. The Road Opening Party (ROP) of the CRPF retaliated and, in the fierce gun battle that ensued, over three dozen paramilitary personnel were injured. As soon as the two terrorists were eliminated, evacuation process was carried out and the injured CRPF personnel were rushed to Army's base hospital.

"CRPF jawans were returning from firing range practice when terrorists attacked, jawans retaliated strongly killing 2 terrorists," he added.

This is the second attack on a bus carrying security personnel within three weeks. On June 3, terrorists had fired at a bus carrying BSF personnel in Bijbehara, killing two personnel.
