Uncertainty over budget session of the Legislature, which had been called by previous Government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed from January 18, has ended with cancellation of the session. The new budget session will now be called by the next Government after it assumes the office.

According to the provisional calendar issued by the Assembly Secretariat, there would be a 52-day-long Budget session with 36 sittings. Chief Minister Sayeed was scheduled to reply to debate on Motion of Thanks to Governor's Address on January 21.
