After his being elected as the Speaker of the state Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) senior leader the Vasundhra Raje government Kailash Meghwal on Wednesday called upon the legislators to develop the habit of reading.

“If legislators develop this habit they can contribute the acquired knowledge in Assembly debates.

Knowledge has no boundaries,” he said asking leaders to make ample use of the library in the Assembly.

“Make use of the literature which has been given to you, take the benefit of library in the assembly,” he said while assuring the house of efficient working.

Assuring the members of the opposition about his impartiality he said the opposition should not worry because of their small number. “I will remain impartial and would also protect your [Opposition’s] rights,” he added.

He set the tone for Assembly proceedings saying, “There are three things on which attention should be paid in the Assembly and most important of them all is maintaining the decorum of the House.”

“Members have a tendency of coming into the well of the House which should not be done regularly. Such antics only reducing the importance of this act,” he said in his well-known oratory style.

Meghwal further spoke about the importance of the Question Hour and said it is the most important part of the session and should not be disrupted. “What will happen if you speak after an hour,” he questioned the legislatures asking them to maintain Parliamentary discipline.

Meanwhile, five legislators, including B L Kushawah, who is wanted by the police, Randir Singh Bhinder, Kunji Lal, Bhanwarlal Sharma and Vishvendra Singh, did not take oath on the second day as well.
