Jaipur: Ministers allotted portfolios

Kataria gets rural development; Saraf education; Rathore health; Yunus PWD; Meghwal gets mines; Khinwser power; Meena tribal welfare; Jat water resources and Saini gets agriculture

Retaining a lion’s share of ministries –a whopping 46– with herself, CM Vasundhara Raje on Saturday allotted various portfolios among her 12 ministers.

Gulabchand Kataria has been allotted Rural Development and Panchayti Raj and Disaster Management and Relief portfolios.

Nand Lal Meena has been given Tribal Development Department, while Rajendra Singh Rathore has been given Medical and Health Department, Ayurved, ESI Department and Parliamentary Affairs.  

Kalicharan Saraf has been given Education and Sanskrit Education department and Technical Education. Kailash Meghwal has been the Mines department while Sanwar Lal Jat will look after Water resources department, Indira Gandhi Canal Project, Public Health and Engineering Department, Ground Water Department, Command Area Development and Water Management. 

Prabhu Lal Saini has been given Agriculture and Agriculture Marketing, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy. Gajendra Singh Khinvsar will be in-charge of Energy while Yunus Khan has been given Public Works Department.

Three ministers of state have been given independent charge who include Arun Chaturvedi (Social Justice and Empowerment Department), Ajay Singh (Cooperatives Department) and Hem Singh Bhadana (Food and Civil Supply Department and Consumers Affairs Department).

Kataria, ex-Home minister in Raje’s first tenure, is accused in Sohrabuddin encounter case in which CBI filed a supplementary chargesheet against him early this year.

Similarly, Rajendra Rathore was arrested and sent to jail by CBI in connection with the Dara Singh encounter case. A Jaipur court had discharged him even before charges were framed against him.
