Several sitting MLAs from the ruling Congress might be dropped from the list of party candidates and new faces, mostly females and youths, might get party tickets. But the secret, that who will get the tickets, will be revealed only when the final list is announced. The party has decided to release the first list of candidates this month-end.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot informed about the development of ticket distributions while talking to media persons at the PCC office on Saturday. The CM said that AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi is interested to give preference to woman and youths in the ticket distribution. He is likely to visit on October 23. AICC president Sonia Gandhi also is expected to tour Rajasthan.
“New faces will come forward (in ticket distribution) and they would get a preference. What is their contribution and possibility of victory, it would be considered by the party too. The process is going on smoothly…The time will reveal which MP or MLAs would contest the election,” said Gehlot.
The CM rejected any infighting within party on tickets distribution. When asked the candidature of chief minister the CM replied, “There has not been any nomination of CM in Congress party ever. It is the post election concern who will be the chief minister. Our aim is how we all return into power.”
The CM did not leave a chance to criticise BJP state president and chief ministerial candidate Vasundhara Raje who released a Black Paper on the Gehlot government exposing 100 scams.
Particularly Gehlot referred the theft of carpets pointing towards Raje.
