CPI national Secretary D Raja on Saturday said the Union Budget favoured big industrialists and corporate houses and there was 'nothing significant' for the common man.
Reacting to the 2015-16 Budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, he told reporters here that reduction of corporate tax to 25 % and other concessions, clearly indicated it favoured big industrialists and corporate houses.
"It is a budget, what people can expect from the BJP Government. There is nothing significant for the common man," Raja, camping here for CPI's 23rd Tamil Nadu State conference, said.
Stating that proportionate funds had not been allocated to the downtrodden and tribals, he charged importance was not given to agriculture and rural development. Besides, there was little or nothing as far as social infrastructure was concerned, he said. Overall, this was not a budget for common people. There would be a question mark whether it would benefit the poor and common people in the long run, Raja said.
