ISIS top on discussion agenda at top cops' conference

The expansion of ISIS and the threat it poses to the country through radicalisation of country's youths are topmost on the minds of police officers who have gathered here for the annual three-day conference organised by the Intelligence Bureau.

Terrorism, ISIS and the threat they pose through radicalisation of youths were the key issues discussed today on the second day of the annual conference of DGs and IGs of police here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh were also present throughout the day and attended various sessions, officials said. The police officers discussed ways to stop radicalisation of youths and the concrete steps needed to prevent the spread of dreaded terror group ISIS. The expansion of ISIS and the threat it poses to the country through radicalisation of country's youths are topmost on the minds of police officers who have gathered here for the annual three-day conference organised by the Intelligence Bureau.

Sessions were also held on the topics including police reforms, better inter-state policing, reforms at police station level, steps to bring competitive spirit between police officers, bringing uniformity in police uniforms across India.
There was a marathon four-hour-long session about the past and present terrorism situation in the country where the data about all the major terror strikes of the last ten years was placed before the top cops for deliberations.
Presentations were also made, including one on how to tackle situations arising from natural calamities like the earthquake.

Gujarat police gave a presentation on disaster management, relief work and steps taken after the 2001 earthquake here, and another presentation on relevance of social media in policing and issues related to cyber security.
Apart from the DGPs and IGs of all the states and Union Territories, heads of NIA, CBI, IB, Narcotics department and various police training academies are attending the conference. DGs and IGs of para-military forces such as BSF, CRPF and CISF too are present.
