As media reports claimed that a mosque in Palwal district of Haryana was built with funds from the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Monday said only a proper investigation could throw light on the matter.

The reports claimed that the mosque had come under the scanner of security agencies after it was found that it was allegedly built with funds from the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

"This issue has come to our notice. But only after investigations...what kind of issue it is (will be known) and whatever action will be needed, we will do that," Khattar told reporters in Palwal when asked for his comments on the issue.

He said the government's job was "to maintain a sense of security in the society and for this, if anyone does any wrongdoing, if anyone commits a crime, we will use any agency needed for investigations. But there is no question of misuse or targeting anyone.." At a press conference in Chandigarh, senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, when asked to comment on the matter, said, "If it is true, then it is worrisome".

"Terrorism has no colour, religion or caste. If any person is found involved in anti-India activities, then on the basis of the evidences and proof available, action as per law should be taken," he said.

Speaking at another function in Karnal, Khattar said his government has, during its four-year tenure, served the people of the state with the vision of 'Sabka Satha Sabka Vikas' (development of all). "Now, in the fifth year, the government has been making people aware about these achievements through 'Swachhta Avm Sadbhavna Pad Yatras' being organised on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi," he said. The chief minister said under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, housing facility would be provided to all by 2022, adding that about 3.5 lakh such families have been identified. Apart from this, the Haryana Housing Board will construct 7,000 houses and Urban Local Bodies Department will make 15,000 houses, he added.
