International Yoga Day: Physically challenged individuals create world record in Ahmedabad

As many as 750 physically challenged (divyang) persons created world record of Yoga performance by maximum disabled people at one place during International Yoga Day celebration in Ahmedabad on Thursday. They all performed silent Yoga at GMDC convention hall, wearing bluetooth headphone, receiving instructions from a trainer. From seven years old child to 70 years old senior citizens, participants of different age group did Yoga. 

Chief minister Vijay Rupani and his wife Anjali visited the place where disabled persons created the world record. Guiness Book of World Records team also was present at the event and participants were given certificates by the organisation. Hearing impaired persons also performed Yoga following non-verbal cues from trainers.

The CM interacted with the participants after the programme and said, "I am overwhelmed to see you being participant in the event of InternationalYoga day. Yoga is the part of ancient Indian tradition and you people also have successfully maintained the same. People from cross-section of society has accepted PM Narendra Modi's mantra for making Yoga as practice in their daily routine and you are no exception and I am proud of you."

Prior to that CM also attended the International Yoga Day event held at Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad in presence of Governor OP Kohli and union minister of state for law PP Chaudhary. Around 50,000 citizens participated in the event. Senior bureaucrats, politicians, business and social leaders participated in this event and also listened to PM Narendra Modi via video. Later in the day, CM also inaugurated national conference of Yoga therapist held by International Alliance Of Yoga Therapist. He also launched its website and released a book titled as 'Yognosis, core of lore'.

Gujarat government claimed that in total 1.25 crore citizens of state took part in International Yoga Day.
