The Chhattisgarh government's unique initiative for the survivors of human trafficking- 'Beti Zindabad Bakery'-is one of the three women-centric projects from the state that are chosen for Naari Shakti-2017 award.

Besides 'Beti Zindabad', the Raipur-based 'Sakhi One Stop Centre', a Central initiate, and Raigarh district have also been chosen for the award.

President Ram Nath Kovind will present the "Naari Samman" to women associated with the Bakery and the Sakhi Centre projects at a function to be held in Delhi on the occasion of the International Women's Day tomorrow, a state government official said here today.

Raipur-based 'Sakhi One Stop Centre' was chosen for the award for resolving various issues concerning women, he said.

The project, launched in July 2015 with an objective of helping women in distress, was expanded in remaining 26 districts of the state in March last year, he said.

Raigarh district has been chosen for the award under 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign for effective community partnership, said the official.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will felicitate Raigarh district collector Shammi Abidi at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan on Thursday, he said.

'Beti Zindabad Bakery', based at Kansabel in Jashpur, is run by the women survivors of trafficking with the assistance provided by the district administration.

The women were provided bakery training under Chief Minister's Skills Development programme.

Chief Minister Raman Singh has expressed happiness over selection of the state for the awards and congratulated the people of the state, particularly women.

Nari Shakti Samman, instituted by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh.
