Moaists opened fire at polling booths in Sukhma district, Samoli (Dantewada), Narayanpur and Kondagoan districts, injuring five CRPF personnel in the restive Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Thursday. The rebels had called for a poll boycott.

Maoists also snatched and set afire EVM machines from a CRPF patrol party as they were returning from a polling station in Korapud area near the Chhattisgarh-Odisha.

Polling did not take place at five polling booths as poll staff did not go to the location; Nearly 265 booths were relocated a day before polling due to security reasons.
