"Immigration assistance Vinod Kumar has been placed under suspension and departmental disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against him," said union home ministry spokesperson, A K Dhatwalia.
Immigration assistants and officers are employees of the Intelligence Bureau who are deployed at the airports and other immigration check points to profile passengers for potential risks and threats.
The ministry took action on the basis of a complaint filed to the commissioner of Bureau of Immigration at the Delhi Airport, PK Bhardwaj by the mother-in-law of the harassed woman who had arrived at the Delhi Airport from Bangalore on March 18 to board a Hong Kong flight the next morning.
The complaint said that the immigration assistant not only sexually harassed the young woman verbally during the immigration process at the desk, but also followed her along the travelator, between domestic and international terminal.
The complaint mentions that immigration assistant allegedly made lecherous and sexually explicit comments in the following order.
Where have you left your children? You young girls have children and then don't care and leave them with parents and do 'majja ' with men.
Do u drink, do u smoke, do u eat chicken, do u have fun with men when your husband is not there
Have you done surgery for birth control.? ( this was asked 4 times)
Do you sleep with other men when your husband is at work?
Would you like to have the third child with me because my wife doesn't want to have the 3rd child?
Why are you going alone to Hongkong, to have fun with your husband, or anyone else? Will you have fun with me?
Are u staying with anyone else in Hong Kong?

The complaint letter says that as the woman was travelling alone she was in a state of shock and could not react to this situation or even register a complaint. It was on her return on the March 23 from Hong Kong, she along with her husband visited AFRRO Alok Kumar Verma to file a complaint.
