Injustice is being done to athlete Arunima Sinha: NCW

The National Commission for Women (NCW) today said "injustice" is being done to athlete Arunima Sinha,
who lost her leg in an incident last month, maintaining that she deserves a proper rehabilitation package to ensure her a "life of dignity".
   
Acting NCW Chairperson Yasmeen Abrar went to the All India Institute for Medical Sciences and talked to the national- level volleyball player who is undergoing treatment there.
   
The 23-year-old had said she was pushed out of a moving train by some robbers near Bareilly on April 11 but later railway police raised questions over her version.
   
"Arunima stands by her version of the event and our findings also till now do not indicate anything to the contrary. We feel injustice is being done to her and she needs a rehabilitation package which will ensure a life of dignity for her," Abrar said.
   
She also expressed concern over increasing atrocities on women across the country. She said an NCW team will visit Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh where a teenager was raped and murdered on April 13.
