Speaking to the media regarding the Sheena Bora murder case on Wednesday, Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said that it was indeed Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai who are the accused.

Indrani, wife of TV honcho Peter Mukerjea, was arrested by Khar Police on Tuesday night over her alleged role in the murder of Sheena Bora in 2012. Indrani's driver, a co-accused who was picked by police few days back in connection with the murder, too, was arrested on Tuesday. During interrogation, the driver claimed that Indrani had killed Bora and that he had helped her in disposing of the body by dumping it in the forests of Raigad district, an officer at Khar police station, who is part of the investigation team, said on condition of anonymity.

Maria said that Sheena was strangulated and then her body was set on fire by the accused.

"In our investigation, the accused driver Shyam Rai confessed to this murder. The victim was strangulated in the car and then the body was disposed off by using petrol. Indrani was present in the car during this time," Maria said.

Maria also added that Sheena was killed on April 24, 2012 and her remains were recovered from Raigad on May 12, 2012.

Meanwhile, Indrani's ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna was arrested on Wednesday afternoon by the Mumbai police in Kolkata. Khanna has been sent for medical test after his questioning session was completed.
