Sunday, 9 February 2014 - 7:34pm IST | Place: Indore | Agency: DNA

A mother was burnt to death allegedly by her husband and father-in-law after she dared to lodge police complaint about gang rape of her minor girl against the wishes of her husband.

According to police the minor girl was gang raped by her cousins - Rajesh Seni (19) and Atul Seni (20) - some time back and she got pregnant. When the issue came to the notice of the father and grandfather they got her aborted without the knowledge of mother.

But mother Krishna Bai in her thirties, however, came to know of the rape and decided to lodge a police complaint. But her husband Mahesh opposed it as it would tarnish the image of the family. But she insisted. Subsequently, Mahesh along with his father Narayan (60) burnt her to death after pouring kerosene on her. The burning girl’s mother took place under Sukhi Sewaniya police station on the February 5 night.

But her husband and father-in-law misled the police saying that she died of burns while cooking tea. The forensic report contradicted their story saying that kerosene was found on her body. The police then did interrogation and the brutal murder was exposed.

The police have arrested father and son for murder and the youths for gang rape on Saturday. Confirming it, Superintendent of Police (SP) (North) Arvind Saxena said, in the preliminary investigation it was found that the woman was burnt to death by her husband and father in law. The rape victim also confirmed to the police about it.
