Indore: RTO's high security plate counter a joke!

Thursday, 12 December 2013 - 2:35pm IST | Place: Indore | Agency: DNA
A bike was stolen from Vijaynagar office premises.

Last week security was beefed up at Vijaynagar RTO with the deployment of two Home guards and a private security guard. But all this extra security did not help businessman Ajit Singh Bhatia. His brand new bike was stolen under the nose of security men and the owner.

The incident triggered anger among the vehicle owners standing in the queue for many hours for procuring High Security Registration Plate (HSRP).

Ajit Bhatia had reached the place for submitting HSRP slip, at around 11.30 am. Bhatia parked his newly purchased Pulsor bike just outside the shed where the vehicle owners are required to submit the HSRP slip.

When Bhatia came out of the shed to attend to a phone call, to his horror he did not find his bike anywhere. A panicky Bhatia called police control room and reported the theft.

“Its height of negligence as someone made away with the new bike despite the presence of three guards and hundreds of persons,” an anguished Bhatia said, while holding his bike keys.

He alleged that the officials of Utsav Link company which has the contract of HSRP installation, did not offer any help.

Even the guards claimed that hundreds of visitors come to the place and it is literary impossible for them to keep an eye on the movement of vehicles.

Bhatia later on filed complaint with Vijaynagar police station.

“The police officers have summoned me on Thursday,” he told dna in evening.

Nitesh Jain, the Zonal Manager of Utsav Link, claimed that the company requests vehicle owners for parking vehicles in the designated area but they don’t listen and keep parking vehicles haphazardly.

“The parking place is manned by a security guard but no one parks vehicle in a specified area,” he complained.
