Indore: Pillion riders should also wear helmet

400 people along with 5 traffic DSPs take part in rally that passed through all major squares of the city.

Spreading awareness, messages about helmet amongst Indoreans, Indore traffic police on Friday organised a mega helmet rally.  

Five DSPs of traffic led five teams from the traffic park which went through all the major squares of the city and concluded at the traffic park.

More than 400 people participated in the rally which included riders of Harley Davidson, team members of Dominos Pizza were also seen taking part in this awareness drive.

“The success of this never seen before mega helmet rally goes to the district police force, traffic police, Dominos Pizza, AADI (association of automobile dealers of Indore) and the Nagar Suraksha Samiti”, said DSP Traffic Arvind Tiwari, who led one of the rallies.

“We are really happy to be a part of the rally. It was a motivating feeling for us. Thousands of people watched us wearing helmets and the right driving gear”, said Udit Bhavsar, who ride a Harley Davidson.

One of the members of the Dominos team said,” We have been really happy to get associated with the Indore Traffic Police.”, said Vinod Patidar of the Dominos team.

“The pillion riders should also wear a helmet.

Because when an accident takes place the driver has the support of the driving handle but then the pillion rider is left without support and is the first one to jump and fall on the head”, said traffic warden Suresh Mittal.

Talking to dna about traffic sense Reserve Inspector Mohit Warwandkar who assisted the rally with his 200 jawans said,” We need to emphasise on three E’s for traffic awareness-- Education, Infrastrcutural Engineering and Enforcement of law.

It is nice to see the helmet rally but the day these three things are implemented, we will see an organised city”.

DSP Arvind Tiwari led the team which went through Geeta Bhawan, Crown Palace, Hukumchand Ghantaghar, Zanjeerwala Chauraha, Lantern Chauraha, Malwa Mill chauraha, Patnipura and came back through Sayaji, and then came back taking the AB road route through LIG Chauraha, Palasia, Geeta Bhawan and White Church.

While DSP Vijay Pawar led another team through GPO, Indira Pratima, Sapan Sangeeta Road, Tower Chauraha, Palsikar colony, Mhow Naka, Vishali Nagar, Gopur Chauraha, Footi Kothi, Collector office, Machchi Bazar, Yeshwant Chowk and back to White Church through Madhumilan Chauraha to traffic park.

DSP Vikram Singh Rathore took his team from White Church, MYH, Madhumilan, Regal square, Bada Ganpati, Wireless T, VIP road, Marimata Chauraha, DRP line, Rajkumar Bridge, GSITS, Lantern Chauraha, Highcourt, Palasia, Geeta bhawan and back to traffic park through White Church.

DSP Govind Vihari Rai led the team from Medical Hostel, Agriculture college chauraha, Pipliyahana square, Khajrana, Radission Blu Hotel, Bombay Hospital, Satya Sai Square, Vijay Nagar, Palasia,  and came back to Traffic Park from White Church Square.

DSP RN Tripathi led the team which went from traffic park to GPO, AB Road, Navlakkha road, Bhanwar Kua, Tower Chauraha. Khatiwala tank, Manik Bagh Bridge, Palsikar Chauraha,
Rajmohalla and came back through Yeshwant Road, Rajwada, MG Road, Mrignayini square, Regal square and came back to traffic Chauraha through White Church.
