A day after he was allotted urban administration ministry, Kailash Vijayvargiya held an hour long Jan Sunwai in his constituency Mhow.
“I had told chief minister that I would not like to go empty handed to Mhow after my victory. So I had requested him to get the forthcoming metro rail project in Indore extended to Mhow. When I was handed over the urban administration department, I was told that the whole project will be under me so I can decide till where the metro goes,” he said while addressing media persons at PWD rest house.
“As minster for urban administration, I will ensure that master plans for all cities are completed as soon as possible. If necessary, professionals will be brought in to complete the task,” he added.
Asked about his plans for civilians of Mhow Cantonment he said, “There is so much to do in Mhow but the Cantonment Board has prevented me from doing so. When we have a government at the centre and Narendra Modi as prime minister, it will be possible for us to bring suitable changes in Cantonment Law.”
When asked if Shivraj Singh Chouhan would make a good prime minister, he said that the BJP believes in collective leadership and not personality-centred politics. “If Shivraj Singh Chouhan can make a good chief minister without any previous ministerial experience, the BJP’s collective leadership would ensure that he made a good PM too.”
Earlier, after hearing complaints of Mhow residents, he instructed the administration to identify all beneficiaries of the Re 1/kg scheme of food grains in Mhow Cantonment by Dec 31 and rural areas by Jan 31. “This will enable BPL families to receive 5 kg of wheat or rice per member at Rs.1 per kg,” he said.
