An international gang involved in preparing fake mark sheets was busted with the arrest of two members of the racket on Thursday.
Talking to media persons, DIG Rakesh Gupta said that the racket was operating in the city for the past several years and one of the members hails from Dubai.
The police also seized large numbers of fake mark sheets, certificates, laptops and printers.
The crime branch had received information that a gang was active in producing forged marksheets of schools and colleges on a large scale in the city.
DIG Rakesh Gupta constituted a team of ASPs -Devendra Patidar and Dilip Soni for probing the matter.
The crime branch had raided flat no. 201 in Suryansh Exotic building in Alok Nagar, Kanadia Road and arrested Aftab Hussain (32), a resident of Khajrana and Md Athar Khan (40), a resident of Dubai.
The police seized large numbers of fake mark sheets, laptops, printers, scanners and rubber stamps from the flat.
The fake marksheets seized from the accused belonged to MP State Open School, MP Board of Secondary Education, Jiwaji University Gwalior, Bundelkhand University Jhansi, Rajiv Gandhi Technical University and Delhi High School Board.
The investigators also recovered financial accounts showing income to the tune of several lakhs.
The racket was not only operating in Madhya Pradesh but also had active links in Uttar Pradesh,
Gujarat, Bihar and other states.
Following the raid, the crime branch handed over the accused to Kanadia police station. A case was registered against them under relevant sections of IPC and further investigation was on till the reports last came in.
A joint team of Kanadia police and crime branch was formed for cracking the entire network and arresting the remaining accused.
DIG Police Indore zone also announced reward for the crime branch team responsible for cracking the network.
