Ex-joint secretary of MPCA Alpesh Shah, who is accused of molestation, did not appear in front police on Thursday. Tukoganj Police is also clueless about whereabouts of Alpesh Shah. They have served several notices to Shah ever since the FIR was filed against him.
On Tuesday evening police went to Shah’s residence in Scheme no 74 and found his house locked. They have put up a notice outside his residence to appear at police station before December 5.
Thana in charge of Tukoganj Police station Manoj Ratnakar said, “We have asked him to come forward and put forth his account of the incident, but he did not turn up till now.”
On Wednesday High Court asked Alpesh Shah to assist in police investigations and ordered police not to arrest him until the investigations are complete.
When asked about court’s stay on Shah’s arrest, Ratnakar said, “We did not receive the order in writing till date.”
Investigation Officer of the case, Sub-Inspector of Police Y V Mishra said, “Investigation is going on in the matter and we cannot divulge more information about it.”
According to sources, he feared arrest by police earlier and hence applied a writ petition to put stay on his arrest. But now he is in a way defying court orders to assist in police investigations.
“Now that court has put stay on his arrest, there shouldn’t be any fear in his mind and cooperate us in our investigations,” said Ratnakar.
Shah was also asked to appear before the MPCA probe panel on Thursday, but he did not appear before them too.
