In yet another case that would bring back the memories of last year’s flyer assault, IndiGo on Monday ‘forcibly’ offloaded a prominent heart surgeon from Bengaluru at the Lucknow Airport after he complained about mosquitoes on flight!

The airline has claimed that the Dr Saurabh Rai, the flyer in question, had used aggrisive language and was trying to instigate other passengers.

According to various accounts of co-passengers, who have requested for anonymity, Dr Rai was manhandled by the staff members and forced to offload the plane after boarding it on seat number 22 C.

He was tersely asked to take another flight for Bengaluru, the co-flyers claimed.

Staff and security men did not even allow Dr Rai any bus or car service to take him back to the airport lounge. He had to walk from the plane to lounge on foot.

The Indigo staff at the Amausi Airport in Lucknow have not yet issued any statement on the incident and remain tight-lipped.

However, private airline’s internal tweets on social media @InndiGo6E claimed that Dr Saurabh Rai was offloaded from 6E541 due to ‘unruly’ behavior.

“Dr Rai had initially expressed concern s regarding mosquitoes on board. Before his concern could be addressed, he became aggressive and used threatening language, including the word ‘highjack’. He also attempted to instigate other passengers to damage the aircraft,” said an internal tweet.

“Keeping in mind safety protocols as well as passengers’ unruly behavior, the pilot-in-command decided to off load Dr Rai,” said the tweet. Despite repeated attempts, Dr Rai has not responded to DNA so far.

In November, couple of IndiGo ground staff were caught on camera brutally thrashing an elderly flyer.

After much furore, IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh had issued a statement and said, ‘whatever may have been the provocation, whether verbal or physical abuse, we could have tried to display more restraint.’
