The victim, Mohammed Akbar, has suffered bullet injuries on his cheek, according to his family.

An Indian man was allegedly shot by unidentified assailants at a parking lot in Chicago, US.
The 30-year-old student from Hyderabad was shot at Albany Park area on December 6, according to an NDTV report. He has been seriously injured and is currently hospitalised in critical condition.
The victim, Mohammed Akbar, has suffered bullet injuries on his cheek, according to his family.
Akbar has gone to US to pursue higher studies and is doing his masters in computer science at DeVry University.
The victim's family has sought Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj's help on the matter. They have asked for Swaraj's help on issuing an emergency travel visa to United States. They had also asked for Telengana home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy's help to raise the issue with the concerned US authorities.

The nature of the incident is not yet known and if it is a hate crime incident in US. In February this year, an engineer from Hyderabad, Srinivas Kuchibolta, was shot dead and his two friends were seriously injured in United States' Kansas by a former Navy man who yelled "get out of my country".
