Indian Institute of Mass Communication cancels lecture by scientist

After reportedly discovering that the scientist Gauhar Raza had made a documentary on the Gujarat riots, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication cancelled his invitation for a lecture.

A day before the event, the institution cancelled its invitation without giving any reason, reported an English daily.

Raza is a chief scientist at the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources in the Department of Science and Technology.

That institution called Raza on April 7 to enquire about sending a car and later informed him that the programme had been cancelled. report said quoting Raza.

The event was cancelled after the institution learned that the scientist had made the documentary Junoon Ke Badhte Kadam (Evil Stalks the Land). 

However, IIMC Director-General Sunit Tandon said that the event was clashing with other engagements and it was scheduled at a time he could not attend, said report.
