An Indian climber has gone missing on Mount Everest after successfully scaling the world's highest peak, officials in Nepal said.

Ravi Kumar, a climber from Moradabad of Uttar Pradesh, had gone out of contact with the balcony area, the final resting spot before climbers ascend the south summit of the mountain, after he was descending to lower camps.

Chhewang Sherpa, Managing Director at Arun Treks, said Kumar successfully climbed the 8,848 meters tall Mount Everest at 1:28 pm on Saturday, the Himalayan Times reported.

His climbing guide Lakpa Wongya Sherpa has also been found unconscious after suffering from frostbite at Camp IV, Sherpa said.

Kumar and the climbing guide got separated during the descent, the official said.

"Three sherpa rescuers have been sent to search for Kumar," Thupden Sherpa of the Arun Treks said, adding the climber had been out of contact.

A tourism department official, Gyanendra Shrestha, confirmed Kumar was out of contact.

On April 30, a famed Swiss climber fell to his death near Mount Everest during preparations to climb the world's highest mountain, while an 85-year-old Nepali man died at the base camp earlier this month while trying to set a record for the oldest climber.

Nepal has cleared 371 mountaineers to climb Mount Everest during the current season ending this month.
