Days after both the India and Pakistan Director General Military Operations (DGMOs) agreed to fully implement 2003 ceasefire agreement on borders, the Indian Army accused the Pakistani military of abetting, supporting and helping the heavily-armed terrorists to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir.
"It is indeed unfortunate that in spite of the ceasefire agreement in place, Pakistan army continues to abet and support the terrorists in infiltration attempts. The Pakistan marking on the large number of recovered stores itself is an indicator and proof of Pakistan's complexity," said Brigadier VS Chauhan, Commander 268 Infantry Brigade, guarding the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Kupwara district.
Six terrorists were killed when Army foiled a major infiltration bid on the LoC on Saturday night. Large cache of arms and ammunition including AK 47 riffles, Under Barrel Grenade Launchers, cutters and other war like stores were recovered from the slain terrorists.
"Our soldiers displayed tactical acumen and leadership, and were successful in eliminating all six terrorists without any casualties to own troops. This is indeed laudable and I commend troops who participated in this operation", he said.
What exposed Pakistan army once again was that the infiltrators were seen roaming near their posts across the LoC before they tried to sneak into the Indian side.
"It is pertinent to mention that this infiltration took place from between the two Pakistani army posts, in fact very close to one of them. It is unlikely that this infiltration attempt could have been attempted by these terrorists without prior knowledge to the people who were deployed in these posts [sic]," said Brigadier Chauhan.
The Army commander said there are large number of terrorists present on the launch pads waiting to sneak into this side of LoC. "We had been getting credible inputs from number of sources about the presence of large number of Pakistan-based terrorists in the various launch pads opposite our sector," he said.
Brigadier Chauhan, however refused to give the exact number of terrorists waiting on launch pads to infiltrate into Kashmir. "I wish I had the number. But as per inputs there are large numbers of them on launch pads," he said.
The fresh infiltration bids comes 13 days after Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan agreed to 'fully implement' the ceasefire pact of 2003 in 'letter and spirit' to stop cross-border firings in Jammu and Kashmir.
