India is hopeful of China taking cognisance of its concerns regarding Pakistan export of terrorism to India in the counter terrorism meet that will take place between the two countries on November 4 in New Delhi.

Sources in the government said that with improvement in relations between the two countries, especially after India relaxed security concerns and started extending ease of doing business facility to the Chinese companies like Huawei, there is more to share between the two countries and counter terrorism is one such issue where both can benefit by extending cooperation.

Waiving off concerns raised by the IB, India since last one year has given security clearance to at least 20 Chinese companies in key sector like telecom and has also extended easy business visa facility.

Until now China has always favoured Pakistan at the international forums on the issue of terror, but according to sources in the security establishment, the Chinese are also aware of terrorism reaching its own doorstep via Pakistan. As recent as in January 2015, Afghanistan had extradited to China several Uighurs suspected of having been trained in terror camps in Pakistan.

Perhaps, this was one big reason why the joint statement, signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's China visit in May this year, elaborately mentioned counter-terrorism as one of the key areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Reiterating their strong condemnation of and resolute opposition to terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, the two countries in the joint statement "committed themselves to cooperate on counter-terrorism."

They also agreed that "there is no justification for terrorism and urged all countries and entities to work sincerely to disrupt terrorist networks and their financing, and stop cross-border movement of terrorists, in accordance with the relevant principles and purposes of the UN Charter and international laws."

Like the western countries, the Islamic State is becoming a major concern for China. About 300 Uighurs from Xinjiang suspected to have joined the IS.

"India, being the second highest seat of Islam's seminary and credited for keeping its youth away from joining IS to a large extent, can help China in several ways to tide over the problem of radicalisation," sources said.
