India on Friday responded to Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif's claim that there was an offer to swap Kulbhushan Jadhav for a terrorist imprisoned in Afghanistan and claimed that it was a "figment of imagination" and a "lie". Afghanistan National Security Advisor (NSA) Mohammad Hanif Atmar has also rejected the claim. "It seems this is one more addition to the long list of imaginary lies and stories created by the Pakistani establishment," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said here at a weekly media briefing.

He also linked the current Pakistani claim to the country's representative at the UN displaying a fake picture. "You have seen what happened at the UN General Assembly — how a fake picture was shown to be from India, but it turned out to be from another country. So, another lie has been added to the series of lies," the MEA spokesperson said. Kumar said he would normally not comment on a purported conversation between two personalities, but was making an exception in this case.
