India's COVID-19 tally breaches 6 lakh mark with spike of 19,148 new cases

The Central government keeps denying that community transmission is taking place in India.

India's COVID-19 cases crossed the 6 lakh cases mark with 19,148 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated on Thursday.

The total cases now stand at t 6,04,641 of which there are 2,26,947 active cases while 3,59,860 patients have been cured.

434 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours taking the number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 17,834.

According to the ministry, Maharashtra is the worst-affected state by the virus with 1,80,298 cases including 8053 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu is the second worst-hit state with 94,049 cases including 1264 deaths.

Meanwhile, Delhi has a total of 89,802 cases with 2803 deaths.

Maharashtra is the most affected state, followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, India's first COVID-19 vaccine COVAXIN developed by Bharat Biotech got the nod for human trials by the Drug Controller General of India on Monday (June 29).
