India on Thursday said that Pakistan has no locus standi to question the acquittal of Swami Assemanand, who was accused in the Ajmer blast case. "India completely rejects Pakistan's effort and intention to meddle in our internal affairs, including in judicial process," said the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Gopal Baglay. Swami Aseemanand, a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist, is also accused of planning 2007 Mecca Masjid blasts as well as the 2006 Malegaon blasts and the 2007 Samjhauta Express bombings.

"We also totally reject the completely untenable link sought to be established by Pakistan with any other matter currently under purview of the Indian courts. Strong Indian democracy and justice system need no self-serving sermons, that too from a country like Pakistan," said the spokesperson. He advised Pakistan to refrain from interfering in internal affairs of India in any form; not to resort to denial from the reality of terrorism emanating from its soil.

He asked Islamabad to take action to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism in the territory under its control and bring to justice the masterminds in its territory who commit, promote and support terrorism against its neighbours.

He also took strong exception to reports that Pakistan was about to declare territory of Gilgit Baltistan part of Jammu and Kashmir as its fifth province. He said the Indian position on Jammu and Kashmir was consistent and well known. "The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir acceded to India in 1947. It has been, is and will always be an integral part of India. A part of Jammu and Kashmir has been under illegal occupation of Pakistan," he said.

The MEA spokesperson warned that any unilateral step by Pakistan to alter the status of that part will have no basis in law and will be completely unacceptable.
