The staff at the Indian mission in Islamabad has been facing "tremendous harassment" for long, particularly in the last year, sources said on Sunday. This was after Pakistan said its diplomats and their families in New Delhi were being harassed, and threatened to get them back.

There have been multiple incidents of hooliganism against Indian properties and personnel in Islamabad, sources said. India's residential complex in Islamabad was raided by Pakistan agencies who expelled all Pakistani service providers and later disconnected power and water supply, multiple sources said. This has forced most families to return to India.

The matter was brought to the notice of Pakistan Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua on February 16 by Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria. Despite Janjua's assurance, the power supply was not restored for over two weeks, sources said, adding that the Pakistan mission in India doesn't face such disruptions.
