In a raging debate on Kashmir issue at Zee's India Ka DNA in 2019 conclave, just a day after snapping of ties between the BJP and the PDP, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said the decision was taken in country's favour when situation crossed the threshold with journalist Shujaat Bukhari's assassination.

"We tried to do everything. With a heavy heart, even took back cases against stone-pelters," said Trivedi.

Calling BJP's nationalism cunning and devious, Congress leader Alok Sharma asked why is it so that when BJP forms government with PDP it is national interest and when it break ties it is again in national interest.

"They have arrived very late at the decision when the condition of J&K has deteriorated beyond repair because of their follies. It took three years to realise what we were calling unholy alliance," said Sharma.

Taking on the BJP, Shabnam Lone, daughter of slain politician Abdul Gani Lone, asked why the Modi government does not have the strength to attack Pakistan which is the real problem and supplies arms to Kashmiri boys.

She said the alliance was broken because elections are close by and the BJP wants to save its constituency.

Major Gen (retd.) KK Sinha said there was no solution to the hybrid, proxy war unleashed by Pakistan. He said the government's intent is right but policy is horribly wrong as it has not been able to control Pakistan.

Awami Itihad Party (AIP) spokesperson Inam-ul Nabi said his party always talks of peace and wants the issue to be settled through dialogue.

"The process of dialogue should have been started with ceasefire during Ramzan. The government did not do enough ground work during the ceasefire. Even Army chief Bipin Rawat said killing of jawans will not fetch anything," said Nabi.

The audience took an active part in the discussion as it raised question marks on everyone's intent and tried to catch the panelists.
