The Central government will launch the country’s first manned space mission by 2022 and roll out its mega health insurance scheme from September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday.

The PM used his last Independence Day speech ahead of next year’s general elections to reach out to all sections of voters by listing his government’s achievements.

He said the pace of building highways, and toilets, besides electrifying villages has increased since his landslide 2014 election win, and attacked Opposition parties for stalling policy and legislation.

PM Modi projected himself as an agent of change and promised housing, power, water, sanitation and healthcare for all.

Addressing the nation from Red Fort, he said there was “senseless” criticism against him but asserted he was impatient and restless to take the country ahead.
