Income Tax department keeps watch on use of black money in Jharkhand polls

The Income Tax Department is keeping a close watch on the use of black money in Jharkhand Assemnbly polls to be held from November 25 to December 20 next, an official said on Tuesday.

"We have deployed about 32-35 Income Tax Officers (ITOs), Inspectors and other officers to look into the matters related to use of black money and unaccounted funds in Jharkhand

Assembly polls, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT), Bihar and Jharkhand, Ujjawal Chaudhary rold reporters. Besides, four Income Tax officials in the rank of deputy directors have been deployed for overall supervision and monitoring the use of black money and related funds in the polls, he said.

The monitoring mechanism to check use of black money has been put in place a week ago and so far two cases of unaccounted money have been detected and seized, Chaudhary said.

IT officials have been carrying out regular survey of expenditure of the candidates and political parties, he said.
