In UP's Saharanpur, Panchayat forces man to drink urine over alleged affair

In a revolting incident, a man was allegedly forced to drink urine by a local Panchayat in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur on Monday.
The Indira Colony Panchayat ‘ordered’ the punishment over the alleged affair between the victim and a local girl.
According to news agency ANI, the victim was first publicly thrashed and later forced to drink urine.

Humiliated over the incident, the victim attempted suicide. He was saved within time and has now been admitted to a local hospital.

Talking to mediapersons, the victim recalled the horror and said, ‘I was thrashed and forcefully made to drink urine. They accused me of having illicit relations with a girl but I do not even know her. Even the girl doesn't know me. I fear for my life now. I want police action as soon as possible.’
According to a Danik Bhaskar report, the local police has refused to take any action in the matter and has said that it has no knowledge of such incident in the locality. However, city SP Prabal Singh has said that he is aware about the case. He said that a police team will be sent to the hospital so that the victim can give his statement. He also assured that all due legal procedures would be followed in the case.
