Cashing in on the popularity of prime minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has crossed the number of two crores in less than two months of its membership drive.

The BJP had started a fresh membership drive from the first week of November with an aim to increase the party-base in the entire country. Modi, while launching the drive, had said that the not only the literates, but the poor and illiterate should also feel that they belong to the party. He had asked the party workers to expand the party base in such a way that it should be all-inclusive.

Shah had made party's secretary Arun Singh the co-in charge of this drive. The party had received huge response and in the first week of the drive itself it got 60 lakh members.
