Uncertainty and fear continue to loom large over the lives of Kashmiri students, especially those who have moved out of the Valley to pursue education. As several videos of Kashmiri students emerged on the internet in which the teenagers could be seen trapped in their hostels due to fear, people across the country opened their doors to help them.

The Delhi Police on Sunday assured the citizens, saying that security has been stepped up and every student shall be safe.

"Just the fact that one is a Kashmiri, irrespective of his ideology or leanings, is enough to put his/her life to risk. The Kashmiri students are being harassed and hounded, be it in Dehradun, Ambala or Bangalore. We are scared for our security," said a Kashmiri student from Jamia Milia Islamia University.

Following this many took to social media to show solidarity. "Friends from Kashmir, please contact our office if you're in any distress in Rajasthan. We'll help you in every way," Kavita from Jaipur posted online.

A Shimla-based resort-owner, on Twitter, said his establishment is ready to welcome anyone who's looking for safety. He even agreed to cancel the guest bookings to help the Kashmiris.

"Our two properties in Himachal are open to Kashmiris (particularly students) who're feeling unsafe and vulnerable. We've space and will look after you. We'll close our bookings for the duration of your stay," he tweeted.

A Delhi-based journalist replied to one #SOSKashmir call, saying, "I live in Ghaziabad. My door is open to any Kashmiri student who is feeling unsafe in Delhi/NCR. Feel free to DM me if you need any help." He also tweeted: "The Kashmiri students should not be targeted. This madness must stop. The union/state governments must deal firmly with these lumpen bigoted agents of hatred."

"Students from Kupwara, studying in Panchkula, have been asked to vacate their accommodations. Help needed #SOSKashmir" read a tweet.

The Home Ministry, on Saturday, issued an advisory to all states and Union territories to take measures to ensure the safety and security of the Kashmiris. The advisory came hours after Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured an all-party meeting of doing the needful.

The Centre has also issued an advisory to Delhi government, asking it to ensure the safety of Kashmiri student.

New Delhi DCP Madhur Verma tweeted that security had been strengthened across the Capital. "We'll ensure safety and security of every citizen, including the Kashmiri students living in New Delhi," he said.
