In Jodhpur Central Jail, qaidi number 106 Salman Khan will sleep on floor tonight
Salman Khan is qaidi number 106 now! No, this is not any promotional activity of his upcoming film.
The ‘Bhaijaan’ of Bollywood, convicted in two-decade-old blackbuck poaching case on Thursday, was taken to Jodhpur Central Jail.
Khan has been placed in the VIP barrack in ward number 2 of the jail. The superstar’s barrack is adjacent to tainted godman Asaram Bapu. However, he is not sharing the barrack with the godman.
‘Salman is fine,’ said DIG Jail Vikram Singh. The police official added that Khan’s blood pressure was slightly high on arrival, but later stabilised.
The superstar will sleep on the floor and has been given four blankets. There were reports that food prepared at Taj Hotel was brought to prison for the actor. But sources say his bodyguard Shera had brought him clothes and some food. But no food was not permitted inside the jail premises.
Instead, the ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ star was served simple chana dal, cabbage and roti, which he did not eat.
Vikram Singh added that Khan didn’t make any demands. He was slightly depressed when he arrived, which he added was quite understandable. Khan is drinking water supplied by the government department and has not asked for bottled water.
Regarding the threat to Khanby gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, DIG Jail Vikram Singh said there was adequate security. There was a three-tier security and four security checks have to be cleared before anyone can reach Salman Khan.
The jail administration has issued clothes and utensils to him. On Friday, Salman Khan will be expected to get up early. Attend to a roll call where he will answer to the call of number 106. Breakfast will include tea, roasted chana and jaggery (gur).
EARLIER OCCASIONS IN JODHPUR JAIL --
This is Salman Khan’s fourth time in the Jodhpur Jail. Khan has been in this jail on three earlier occasions; one when he was arrested after the poaching in 1998 and then in 2006 and third time in 2007.
Incidentally, in 2007 Salman was in jail during Raksha Bandhan. His sisters Alvira and Arpita had come to jail to tie rakhi on his wrist.
He told DIG Vikram Singh that ‘I have been here thrice before.’
