The administration at IIT-Roorkee reportedly is contemplating to take action against students who did not turn up during the International Yoga Day celebrations.

According to a report in The Times of India, yoga sessions celebrating Yoga Day were organised on the campus between June 18 to 24. However, students who reportedly have attendance in these yoga sessions less than 60%, will face actions.

The report says that students who were observing 'roza' or those who were appearing for the SCIR UGC NET exam on June 19 were exempted from participating in the yoga sessions.

However, the institute authorities have rejected these allegations and told TOI that they were compiling the students' attendance only for record.

"We are just compiling the records of students who did not attend as we wanted to know the reasons behind their absence," DK Nauriyal, dean (students) of the institute told TOI.
