IIT-JEE results: Kota institute Allen Career makes history, students bag all top 3 ranks

Aman Bansal, Bhavesh Dhingra and Kunal Goyal, the top three rankers of IIT-JEE belong to Kota's Allen Career.

Kota's Allen Career Institute recorded its name in history on Sunday, when its students secured all top three ranks in IIT JEE-Advanced (IIT-JEE) 2016. Aman Bansal (17), Allen student from Jaipur centre, topped the prestigious entrance exam by securing 320 out of 372 marks, said Allen director Rajesh Maheshwari.

Bhavesh Dhingra from the coaching centre in Chandigarh secured AIR 2 with 312 marks. He is also the zone topper for IIT-Roorkee. Kunal Goyal, another student from Allen bagged the third position with 310 marks. Besides these three, Allen student Ishan Tarunesh topped in IIT-Guwahati zone, while bagging an AIR 33. Allen student Sharvik Mittal secured AIR 29, topping the IIT-Kanpur zone, Maheshawari said.

Topper Aman Bansal said he never bothered about the ranks, but devoted quality time to his studies and maintained confidence in his abilities. Success certainly follows hard work, he said, adding that now he wants to pursue B.Tech in computer science from IIT-Mumbai. Besides studies, Aman loves playing indoor games to keep his mind fresh and energetic. He scored 98% marks in Std XII, with 100% marks in chemistry and 99% marks in Math. He credited Allen for boosting his confidence through a series of tests. Aman's father Mukesh Bansal is posted as Ex En PHED in Jaipur, while his mother Anju Goyal is a housewife.

Second rank holder Bhavesh Dhingra said clarity of concepts was his strength, and he also focused on time management. In IIT-JEE Advanced paper, he first attempted chemistry, followed by physics and math. To keep himself fresh and relaxed, he played table tennis, Badminton and listened to music. Bhavesh's father Inderjeet Dhingra is a retired bank manager and mother Savita is a housewife in Yamunanagar.

Third rank holder Kunal Goyal said he secured 290 in JEE-Mains but he secured 310 marks in Advanced paper, as he did not repeat his mistakes. Learning to Improve and avoid silly mistakes is his strength, Goyal said, adding that now he wants to do B.Tech in computer science from IIT Mumbai. Kunal’s father S K Goyal is an engineer in the irrigation department and mother Manju Goyal is a housewife. He said he played mobile games to keep his mind refreshed.

Another student from Allen, Gaurav Didwania, secured AIR 9 in the exam, said Nitesh Sharma, chief marketing officer of Allen. He added that it was for the first time that first three top ranks of IIT-JEE Advanced were secured by students from the institute. Notably, in 2014, Allen student Chitarng Murdia had secured AIR 1 in JEE-Advanced, he added.

Meanwhile, Sunil Kumar, son of farmer Ram Kumar in Kathel district of Haryana, also bagged an All-India Rank with 258 marks. Last year, Sunil secured 3,561 rank in JEE-Advanced but instead of seeking admission in IIT-Kharagpur, he attempted for the second time this year and succeeded, said Maheshwari. Sunil was awarded 75% scholarship, he added. His mother Rambhateri is a housewife.
