IIPM to close down management courses, to focus on research and training

The Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) led by Arindam Chaudhari has announced that the institution will be closing down from this year. The institute is set to focus only on research and training.

The announcement on the website said, "From 2015 IIPM has entered into technical collaboration of knowledge sharing with various institutions in India and has stopped taking direct admissions...As a part of the technical collaboration, IIPM primarily sends its researchers and faculty to take papers in other institutions and offer its “Certificate in Planning and Entrepreneurship” to students in those institutions. "

"All IIPM campuses now only have old students and these campuses are being shut down as and when old batches finish their courses. IIPM will be operative only in Delhi as a research and training institutions, the training will be imparted only to corporates or institutions who enter into a technical collaboration of knowledge sharing with IIPM. Every detail on this website applies to IIPM 1973-2014.," it further said.

IIPM had 18 campuses all across the country. However, IIPM will be operative in Delhi as a research and training institutions after the last batch ends in October 2015.

Earlier, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has accused IIPM of “misleading, cheating and fooling” as the courses offered by the institution were not recognised by any authority.

In 2014, the Delhi High Court ordered the institute not to use terms such as MBA, BBA or management course for the courses it offers and also restrained it from calling itself a management school or business school.
