The ministry of environment and forests has written to the department of health and family welfare, part of the Union health ministry, to give a no objection certificate to let IFS officer and whistleblower Sanjeev Chaturvedi take charge as OSD to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The letter, dated June 8, is signed by RS Negi, addressed to the secretary, department of health and family welfare. It directs the health ministry to give no objection to the deputation of Chaturvedi to the post of officer on special duty for Kejriwal.

The Aam Aadmi Party government had wanted Chaturvedi as part of its team when they took charge of Delhi government earlier this year. Kejriwal had initially wanted him to head the anti corruption branch, given his reputation of fighting corruption and uncovering scams, and later as an OSD.

AAP as a party had also supported Chaturvedi when he was removed from the post of the chief vigilance officer at the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences by then Union health minister Harsh Vardhan. Reportedly, Vardhan had done so after JP Nadda who went on to replace Vardhan as health minister had written a letter demanding Chaturvedi's removal and a review of all investigations into corruption at AIIMS.

AAP had then campaigned, albeit unsuccessfully, for Chaturvedi's reinstatement.

Things have been looking up for Chaturvedi after his many battles against the Centre and state. Recently, the Central Administrative Tribunal went against the PMO's orders by directing the appointments committee of cabinet to reconsider his inter-cadre deputation from Haryana to Uttarakhand. Chaturvedi had been fighting for the transfer, alleging harassment from the Haryana government for uncovering scams that indicted politicians and senior bureaucrats. However, earlier this year, the PMO had stalled the approval for transfer.
