The Goa government on Monday said the amount spent on the organisation of last year's International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji may add up to Rs 12-13 crore as the bills of several agencies were pending with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG).

Power Minister Milind Naik stated in the legislative assembly today that the expenses of the festival worked out to Rs 8.34 crore, but the figure would reach Rs 12-13 crore, after all the bills were paid. He was responding to a question tabled by former Chief Minister and Congress legislator Digambar Kamat.

Naik also said that he would seek a detailed report from ESG, the nodal agency for the festival, on the expenses. "All the agencies which have submitted their bills would be paid within a few days," he said.

On the other hand, sponsorships for the annual festival fetched Rs 36.26 lakh last year, he added.
