Addressing a Kashmiri students' conference, organised by the RSS-affiliated Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) here on Saturday, he said extremist forces wanted to use the Kashmiri youth to destroy the harmony in the Valley.
"If you want to say talaq to something, say it to guns." That was senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar, exhorting Kashmiri youth to shun violence and "get involved in nation building".
Addressing a Kashmiri students' conference, organised by the RSS-affiliated Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) here on Saturday, he said extremist forces wanted to use the Kashmiri youth to destroy the harmony in the Valley.
"However, the present day youth of Kashmir idealizes likes of Abul Kalam Azad and APJ Abdul Kalam," he said.
Calling Kashmiri youth a hope of the nation, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who was also present at the event, said that it's government's responsibility to not let the youth "astray".
"Our hopes in Kashmir lies in its youth who have become more awakened than in the past and want peace and development," Singh said, adding "it's the local forces that mislead them in their initial years."
"We should tap these children when they are in class 7 and 8. That's the time when they are clean. First corrupt influence are parents who mislead the kids...they then lead a confused life," he said.
Singh said the youth of Kashmir were living in a nutshell, unaware of the happenings outside. "It was after Modi government's initiatives they started knowing the rest of the country."
Kashmiri students from several universities across Delhi and NCR including Amity University, Galgotias University among others, participated in the conference. Around 350-400 students were from Mewar University of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, where half of the students are Kashmiris. The varsity has been offering several government-aided scholarship programmes for Kashmiri youth.
"We are very happy to attend the event as no such event was organised specifically for Kashmiri students in the past," said a student of Mewar University.
This was the first time when RSS organised a gathering of this sort for Kashmiri students studying in different colleges and universities of Delhi and NCR. "As many as 2000 Kashmiri students have participated in the conference and that clearly implies that majority of them want to opt progressive path of development," said Engineer Aijaz, one of the organiser and the president of BJP's Kashmir youth wing.
