Amid ongoing war of words, BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate for Karnataka assembly elections BS Yeddyurappa on Saturday sparked a row after he said that the party workers should tie the hands and legs of those aren't coming to vote and bring them.

Yeddyurappa made the remark while addressing a rally in Belagavi.

"Don't rest now. If you think that somebody isn't voting, go to their homes, tie up their hands and legs & bring them to vote in favour of Mahantesh Doddagoudar (BJP candidate from Kittur)," he said.

Reacting to Yeddyurappa's comment, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that a defeatist BJP facing rejection at the hands of Kannadigas is threatening voters in frustration.

"Mr. Yeddyurappa, insulting democracy & intimidating voters will trounce the BJP decisively," he said in a tweet.

The Congress President has already up the ante against Yeddyurappa, questioning his candidature even after cases of corruption.

In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi has questioned why is PM Modi making corrupt Yeddyurappa the CM candidate for Karnataka?

"Modi ji has to say....If he is fighting against corruption, why did he give 8 tickets to the Reddy brothers and those in their camp? Why he made Yeddyurappa the BJP's chief ministerial candidate?" said Rahul attacking Modi.

The Congress has also accused Modi and the BJP of getting Yeddyurappa's name 'cleared' in corruption cases through the CBI and said the 'Yeddy-Reddy' combine was seeking to return to power to 'loot' and 'plunder' the state.

However, buoyed by the response to Modi's public rallies, the BJP's chief ministerial candidate said his becoming chief minister was "inevitable" and no one need to have any doubts about it.

"My oath taking at Vidhana Soudha as the chief minister of Karnataka is inevitable. Nobody should have any doubt about it. Karnataka election results will be a replay of UP election results. There is no confusion about it," Yeddyurappa told the cheering crowd.

With just a week left for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly, both Congress and BJP have got into a war of words, challenging each other. BJP is making an all-out effort to oust the Congress government from the state.

The Karnataka Assembly elections are slated for May 12 and results will be out on May 15.
