IAF officer caught roaming near India-Pakistan border

An IAF officer, who was on leave and apparently in a disturbed state of mind, was caught roaming near the Indo-Pak border by BSF in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district, police said here on Wednesday.

"Wing Commander Shashank Shekar was caught by the BSF last evening close to the border in Anupgarh area of the district. BSF handed over him to us and he is being interrogated at the Anupgarh police station," Additional SP Srigangangar Devendra Bishnoi told PTI.

"Initially, he said that he was mentally disturbed and came here on leave from Ambala," he said/   Defence spokesperson Col S D Goswami said that a probe has been ordered by the Air Force to ascertain the facts.

"The officer posted at Ambala is suffering from hallucination. A probe has been ordered," Goswami said.

Four districts, including Sriganganagar, in the desert state share 1070-km long border with Pakistan.
