Abhijit Mukherjee 'unconditionally' apologised for his remarks against those protesting against the the Delhi gang-rape.

Son of President Pranab Mukherjee and Congress MP from Jangipur, Abhijit, on Thursday 'unconditionally' apologised for his remarks against those protesting against the brutal rape of a 23-year-old student in Delhi. He had earlier called these girls and young women "dented and painted women".

"I officially withdraw and sincerely apologise unconditionally to all the people who got hurt by these words. Why my father was dragged in? My intention was not to hurt anyone. I apologise to the President of India and my sister because my words also hurt them," said Mukherjee while talking to a TV channel.

Abhijit's sister Sharmishtha Mukherjee had apologised for his remark earlier this evening.

Earlier, in an interview to ABP Ananda, a Bengali news channel, Abhijit Mukherjee said, "This is almost like the Pink Revolution. These pretty women, dented and painted, who come for protests are not students. These women who are protesting have no contact with ground reality."
