I'm deeply sorry for your sufferings: Chidambaram to blast victims

The home minister said young and experienced doctors were working round the clock to save the lives of the injured.

Home Minister P Chidambaram tonight met those injured in the Delhi High Court blast and said he was "deeply sorry" for their sufferings.

"I have met all the people who have been seriously injured, two of them are critical. Many people have suffered injuries in the lower limb because the blast had affected their legs," he said after visiting the injured at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital here.

The home minister said young and experienced doctors were working round the clock to save the lives of the injured.

"One had to be amputated. There may be one or two more amputations. I am deeply sorry that people have been injured," he said.

Chidambaram said he has spoken to the relatives of the injured and assured them that the doctors conveyed that the best possible medical attention would be given to every injured.

"In case, a family wants to take the injured person to a hospital after one or two days, we will ask the doctors opinion and if the doctors say that they have to be shifted, they will be shifted to the hospital of the choice of the family," he said.

The home minister said his ministry officers were stationed in the hospital and making a list of the injured.

"I sincerely hope that everyone of the injured gets back to normal life soon," he said.
