The life of a traffic policeman in India is hard. Come rain or sunshine, they are always there ensuring slow movement of traffic. Despite this, we don't respect them. We make comments about them, accuse them of corruption, and even claim that they don't do their job properly.

A Mumbai traffic policeman highlighted this while being interviewed by Humans of Bombay. The heartbreaking post reminds us that in the summer, while we enjoy the luxuries of an air-conditioned car, these men and women stand out in the sweltering for at least 10-12 hours in various pockets of the city, only to get attitude from motorists.

"I just asked this lady to not park her car in a particular spot because it would hinder traffic and her car would get towed. Her reaction was that to make a face and say, 'it's so hot, and on top of that you're making me move' and then said a couple more things in English and I just wanted to tell her that, she's sitting comfortably in her car and we stand in this heat for 12 hours at a stretch sometimes...it's difficult for us too and I just wish we were given more respect."
